Mia was donated as a puppy to DFOB by a sweet couple that just couldn’t handle her level of drive and energy. She was originally purchased from an AKC breeder as a full bred “Silver Labrador Retriever”. When trainer Paul first received Mia, she ran circles around his legs and nearly tripped him with the leash! He knew he was going to have a lot of training ahead for this rambunctious little girl.
The best thing about Mia is that she loves to work and learn. She started picking up assistance skills much faster than we anticipated and is eager to learn more every day. Mia can pull and push a wheelchair, retrieve dropped items, get items from the refrigerator, interrupt anxiety attacks, turn on lights, open and close doors, and so much more. She keeps us laughing every day! We absolutely adore her.
